Drying your own herbs for the upcoming winter months is not only a way to save money, but also a way to bring comfort during the winter blues.

How about trying this simple yet very effective tea?

Combining calming chamomile, fragrant lavender, and a touch of lemon balm, makes for a truly tranquil experience. Use what ever measurements and ratios you would like. However, a pinch of Lavender goes a long long way.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers

  • ½ teaspoon dried lavender flowers

  • ½ teaspoon dried lemon balm leaves

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • Honey (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Using cold water, get your kettle, or pan of water, boiling.

  2. Turn off water and remove from heat

  3. Place your dried herbs into a tea-ball, a French Press, or just into the pan.

**(If placing in an open pan, please place a lid or plate on the pan.)

  4. Steep the chamomile, lavender, and lemon balm in the boiling water for 5-10 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavor will be.

  5. Strain the tea into a mug.

  6. Add a touch of honey if you prefer a sweeter taste.

  7. Before taking a sip? Set your intention to, “I am here now in this moment. And in this moment? There is nothing else but this moment.”

  8. Enjoy!

Soothing Sips

Sit back, sip your tea slowly, and inhale the calming aroma of the herbs. Feel the tension melt away with every delicious mouthful.

Tips:

  • For a more floral twist, add a few dried rosebuds to the mix.

  • To alleviate high anxiety, you may want to try adding dried oat straw to the basic blend.

  • For an extra relaxing touch, dim the lights and curl up with a good book, use an essential oil diffuser, while you enjoy your tea.

Sweet dreams!

We are never alone in this world— even though we may feel that we are sometimes.

Card of the Day

King of Cups aka the King of Hearts aka the King of Water. Pulled from “The Good Tarot” by Collette Baron-Reid

If you find your ‘self’ smiling when you least expect it, why do you need to wait for the other shoe to drop? Certainly, what goes up must come down. But understand you are in a place right here right now that isn’t going to ever happen again. Ever!

Why throw away this moment- even if its brief- to worry? The King of Water is also here to say you are stronger than you think you are! There can be no wisdom without knowledge. Let your ‘self’ explore something you never thought you would be able to do. Now is the perfect time.

And if you are one of the many right now that are in the throes of feeling just about everything? Know that is ok too! You are going to ultimately come up for air just when you need it.

Also, a side note: The King of Water is the most trustworthy, altruistic, caretaker, of his kingdom. And since we are all composed of roughly an average of 73% water. Be gentle with your ‘self’! Life is to be experienced. Not every experience is going to be happy, but a learning one.
